Compatibility & suitability

Cookware Suitability & Compatibility

Deep guides to cookware compatibility: induction, dishwasher, oven, PFAS-free coatings, cooktops and care — with per-type data and charts.

Suitability is not one question — it is several. A pan can be perfect on gas, useless on an induction hob, fine in the oven and ruined by the dishwasher. Each guide below answers one dimension with per-type data inferred from material composition.

How these pages are built

Every figure is computed offline from Amazon review data (2023 vintage) and product material composition, then published as static data. Compatibility is inferred from material rules, not copied from manufacturer specs; where we lack data we say “unknown” instead of guessing.

The short version

  • Induction — the base must be magnetic. Cast iron, carbon steel and induction-rated stainless work; bare aluminium and copper do not.
  • Dishwasher — stainless, ceramic, glass and enamel are generally fine; cast iron, carbon steel, bare aluminium and copper are not.
  • Oven — depends on the whole pan: coating, handles and lid, not just the body.
  • PFAS-free — check the coating family, not the “PFOA-free” label.
  • Care — bare iron needs seasoning; everything else does not.

Compatibility is inferred from material composition and offline product data (2023 vintage), not from manufacturer specifications. Verify with the product listing before buying. Counts are aggregates; we never publish raw reviews.
